MITRE delivers to its customers the full spectrum of software
development capabilities from prototyping, through architecture and
modeling, to software assessments. We prototype new capabilities
and deliver advanced experimental functionality to address unmet
business and mission needs.
As an Intern working in software engineering or computer science,
you will work with a team to apply your knowledge and gain
experience with one or more of the following:
Front-end, back-end, middleware or full-stack software
development
Artificial intelligence
Cyber software
DevSecOps
Mobile computing
Embedded systems and Internet of Things
Machine learning and artificial intelligence
Modeling and simulation
Model-based engineering
Virtual reality
Human factors engineering, human-computer integration,
human-in-loop testing, user experience/user interface
Basic Qualifications
Must be a student enrolled full-time pursuing an accredited degree
seeking program in Software Engineering, Computer Science or a
related degree program and continue to be enrolled full-time the
semester following the internship.
"Hands-on" skills in at least one or more programming language
Exposure to software development tools and frameworks, including
source control management tools (e.g., Git)
Familiarity with software development methodologies
Sustained excellence in academic performance
High level desire to help their nation solve its most critical
challenges
Preferred Qualifications
Has had previous internships, work experience or research
experience in their field of study
Has applied learning outside of a classroom through involvement in
student clubs, competitions, self-learning or similar events or
activities in their field of study
Is involved in activities that require strong collaboration such as
involvement in student clubs/organizations or other types of
extracurricular activities
Demonstrates an interest in serving the public good by
participating in volunteer activities
High level of excellence in academic performance demonstrated by
such things as high GPA, additional major or minor or
certificates/certifications, enrolled in a 5- year
Bachelors/Masters
Experience with some the software engineering specialty areas
mentioned in the job description above
Knowledge of software design patterns
Knowledge of database technologies, including relational or
NoSQL
Clearance: In addition to passing MITRE's employment background
